Emerging Faculty Outreach Award

Established 2015

The Emerging Faculty Outreach Award is supported by the Offices of the Vice President for Outreach and Vice Provost for Online Education in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs.

General Description

The Emerging Faculty Outreach Award is a University-wide honor that recognizes early-career tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members whose work has significant potential to advance engaged scholarship through teaching, research, and/or service. Their engaged scholarship work shows significant potential to influence societal issues on local, regional, or national levels.

The goal of the award is to help early-career tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members build a lifetime of leadership in engaged scholarship work. The Emerging Faculty Outreach Award features an award of $1,000.

Eligibility and Submission Materials

All Penn State tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members are eligible for this award. The award is designed to recognize emerging engaged scholarship work, rather than long-established projects. 1. A completed Emerging Faculty Outreach Award form (DOC).
  2. A curriculum vitae focused on information relevant to the award (one-page limit).
  3. Two letters of support from University faculty, staff, or students; one letter must be from faculty or staff.
  4. Two letters from external partnering organizations testifying to the nominee’s engaged scholarship involvement.
