Conferences and Institutes (C&I) is a full-service event and program planning unit, housed within the state-of-the-art Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. The expert staff members of C&I can help with all aspects of any event, including pre-conference planning, on-site event management, and post-conference activities.
Our Mission
Conferences and Institutes serves all Penn State academic colleges and units, collaborating to distribute their academic expertise to audiences in Pennsylvania and beyond.
Impact
Planning and executing nearly 100 conferences and programs each year, C&I annually reaches more than 10,000 adults and 5,000 youth participants. C&I returned $3 million in revenue to Penn State colleges and academic units in fiscal year 2014–15.
Student Engagement
Many students participate in C&I programming to network and learn through immersion. C&I also partners with academic colleges to plan and implement off-site resident instruction courses, getting students out of the classroom and often providing the opportunity to travel while learning. Students are involved with the planning of a number of annual conferences, allowing them to work hand-in-hand with a professional program manager to learn budgeting, communication skills, planning logistics, project management, and more. Students can also work at youth camps as counselors or intern with C&I, allowing them the chance to gain deep knowledge about conference planning and management.
C&I impacts learners of all ages by working with faculty on the development and delivery of programs ranging from conferences and workshops to summer youth camps and courses focused on engaged scholarship. Our programs represent and share the diversity and strength of the University.
