This reporting site is ONLY for courses taken for academic CREDIT. Act 48 hours earned by completing a Penn State pre-approved NON-CREDIT program will be reported by the Penn State Office of Professional and Community Engagement (PACE).
The process for submitting your credits for Act 48 credit is as follows:
- Fill out the following request form. The educator must initiate the Act 48 reporting request by completing this online form and identifying the courses to report.
- If you are currently enrolled, you must wait until the course is graded to report it.
- All credits are verified through the Office of the University Registrar. After verification, credits will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Requested course work may take several business days to appear on the PDE Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS).

Eligibility
Only courses in which the course counted towards the educator’s GPA and received a quality letter grade (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C) are eligible for Act 48. Courses with grades of D (Poor/Failure), F (Failure), R (Research), Audit (AU), Credit by Examination (CRX), No Grade (NG), W (Withdrawn), and etc. are not eligible. See the University’s Grading System.
Courses completed prior to January 2000 are not eligible. Also, course start and/or end dates outside an educator’s Continuing Education Period (CEP) start and/or end dates cannot be reported. Your CEP start/end dates are shown when your enter your PPID in the Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS).
Applicability
Courses submitted must be associated with your professional development and that approval of credits for Act 48 and is at the discretion of an educator’s school district and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Act 48 versus Level II Certification
By submitting these credits/hours does not mean you are submitting for Level II Certification. Please contact your School District or the PDE for instructions on how to apply for this certification.
How do I know when my Act 48 credits/hours have been reported?
Students may check the PDE Professional Education Record Management System to confirm that their credit(s) have been reported. All coursework must be verified and therefore it may take several business days for coursework to be listed.
Fee
Penn State does not charge for reporting this information to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
