Sustainability Experience Center

Located on nine acres on the eastern edge of Penn State’s University Park campus, the Sustainability Experience Center (SEC) acts as a living laboratory for students, faculty, and the community. Hosting a wide range of indoor and outdoor classrooms for hands-on learning, the SEC is home to the MorningStar solar home, the Eco-Machine wastewater system, a community garden, experimental forests, and multiple ongoing research projects. It also offers an ideal setting for exploring food, energy, water, land, and community systems.

Visitors are welcome to stop by the SEC to explore the grounds, walk the trails, observe research projects, and view the Penn State Community Garden. For a more in-depth and tailored experience, visitors can request a guided tour of the MorningStar solar home and the rest of the SEC property or reserve space for a class, workshop, or meeting. Buildings at the SEC are not open to public, but they can be accessed as part of a tour.

Please note that the SEC is closed from sunset to sunrise and during football weekends.
