From meadows and marshes to rich farmland, Penn State Fullers Overlook — situated on 355 acres in North Abington, Pennsylvania, 16 miles northwest of Scranton — comprises more than 120 acres of forests, wetlands, and meadows, a lake that stretches across 39 acres, and a substantial array of buildings and infrastructure, all of which serve as a backdrop for multidisciplinary research and hands-on education.
Thanks to a truly historic gift from longtime philanthropists Mort and Sue Fuller in 2024, Penn State’s roots as an agricultural institution are giving way to modern endeavors in ecological restoration. Before ownership was transferred to Penn State, the property had been under the stewardship of the Fuller family for more than a century, in recent decades serving as a beacon for research and practice in regenerative agriculture as well as a hub for education and community outreach and engagement.
