The Penn State Center: Engaging Pittsburgh collaborated with the city of Pittsburgh on a demonstration storm water mitigation project that planners hope will reduce flooding in Pittsburgh’s Four Mile Run neighborhood and will serve as a model for the rest of the city and beyond.
Penn State interacts with the broader world daily through its public broadcasting stations and public service media projects, youth programs, the Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, and programs dedicated to meeting the needs of the communities around us.

Shaver’s Creek offers recreational and educational opportunities for the entire community —raptor center, Discovery Room with reptiles and amphibians, hands-on exhibits, bookstore, hiking trails, festivals, summer camps, bird walks, and special programming.
