The Max and Shirley Kogan Museum Experience Fund supports undergraduate students interested in museum-based experiential learning opportunities.

Jason D. Kogan (’66 Liberal Arts) established this non-endowed fund in honor of his parents, Max and Shirley Kogan, to encourage and create opportunities for undergraduate students to explore museums and the museum field (including art, history, cultural, anthropology, and science museums). Undergraduate students and faculty-led groups are encouraged to apply for grants to participate in one of the following museum-based experiences:

  • Museum visits
  • Museum internships
  • Attendance at a professional museum conference

The museum-based experiences must meet the Requirements for Grant Funding.

Applicants who are approved for funding will receive up to a $2,000 award, with higher amounts considered on a case-by-case basis, and must fulfill all Program Requirements.

How to Apply

The most recent application deadline was September 18, 2025. Congratulations to this year’s recipients! The application for the next round of awards will be available here when open.

This not only enriches my educational experience but also promises to be a fantastic learning opportunity for me.

I’ll be going to interview Dr. Albert Kollar at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, and I’m extremely excited to get hands-on experience working with and talking to the curator of such a large museum.
