Outreach Vice President’s Awards

Welcome to the 2009 Outreach Vice President's Awards Program. Your great work is the key to our success in moving from good to great. The annual Outreach Vice President Awards are an opportunity to personally recognize and celebrate colleagues who have made extraordinary contributions to Outreach.

Anyone may submit an award nomination. All faculty, staff, and technical-service employees associated with Outreach and Cooperative Extension units are eligible for awards in the following five categories: leadership, entrepreneurship (innovation), excellent service, community and learning, and diversity. All University-wide academic administrators, deans, and associate deans are eligible for the Shirley Hendrick Award.

The deadline for electronic submission of all nominations is November 30, 2009. After nominations are closed, the committee will review them. If you have any questions concerning the awards, please contact co-chairs Dale Punshon at 814-863-0204 (dep5@outreach.psu.edu) or Sue Cromwell at 814-865-2539 (sec137@outreach.psu.edu).

Award winners will be announced in February 2010. Craig will host a small luncheon honoring the award recipients, and those who nominated them, on February 16, 2010. So, please place a hold on your calendar for lunch on February 16, 2010. If your nominee is selected to receive an award you will receive an invitation to register for the luncheon.

To nominate a colleague or team, click on the link below, which will take you to the awards description page that outlines all of the eligibility requirements. Please follow the links to go to each award nomination page. You can refer to the sample nomination letter for an example of what a successful nomination letter looks like.

After your nomination has been electronically submitted, you will receive a confirming e-mail with instructions for other colleagues to submit letters of support. Each nomination requires two additional letters of support. It is the responsibility of the nominator to solicit the letters of support. Any nomination lacking two letters of support will be considered ineligible. Each time a letter of support is submitted you will receive a confirming e-mail. After your nominee has two letters of support, the nominee and his or her supervisor will receive confirmation e-mails.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize a colleague's exemplary achievements. I appreciate your commitment to recognizing and celebrating excellence.
