Program Description

If you want to do something different this summer, sign up for the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Recreation Management's summer program in Montreux, Switzerland. Experience Swiss and European hospitality for five weeks and reside in the midst of the breathtaking Swiss Alps and along Lac Leman (Lake Geneva), in the center of Europe.

This program is ideal for hospitality management students from any college or university in North America. The students live in an international environment and learn about the hospitality field in a uniquely European fashion. Penn State offers 6 advanced undergraduate credits to students who complete this program; check with the registrar at your school to find out whether you can apply these credits to your course of study.

The class meets from three to four days a week at the Hotel Institute Montreux in beautiful Montreux for five weeks. During the time the class does not meet, the students may travel, independently, almost anywhere in Europe. They can visit Austria, Florence, Munich, Paris, the Riviera, Rome, Spain, and Switzerland.

The students live in double-occupancy rooms in the school's lodging facilities. The rooms are very comfortable, and each has its own bathroom facilities. Continental breakfast and substantial lunches are provided on days when the class meets. Experience has shown that students prefer to find their own meals in the evenings and on nonclass days, when they may be traveling independently. There are restaurants close to the school.
