Our customized teambuilding programs will enable groups of all kinds to learn about one another, build stronger teams, and enhance group performance.
Teambuilding includes interactive activities that range from ice breakers, that simply promote interaction in a fun manner, to challenging initiatives designed to highlight specific group problems or goals.
The Shaver's Creek teambuilding program works with groups of all ages and abilities.

Scheduling
Programs can be scheduled year round by contacting the teambuilding director.
Costs vary according to the program length, the goals of the group, and the number of participants. Food and travel arrangements will be made separately.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is to create safe environments for participants to experience new things with the help and support of their team. Our programs are created to match the needs and abilities of each particular group. Some groups are highly physically active and enjoy similarly active physical challenges, while other groups may be more comfortable with less physical challenges. Most groups are somewhere in between. It is our philosophy to create a program that is accessible and enjoyable to everyone. In addition, we establish an agreement of “Challenge-by-Choice” between our participants and facilitators. The Challenge-by-Choice philosophy allows each individual to determine the level at which he or she wishes to be challenged.
Program Design
Whether you are looking for a fun way for a new group of students or co-workers to get to know one another or you have an established work team with some specific issues to address, the staff at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center can design the perfect Teambuilding program for you.
To address the wide variety of needs for different groups, we create programs that range from icebreakers only to intensive workshops that last several days. Our staff will work closely with you to help assess your group's needs and goals and then create a Teambuilding program that meets these specific objectives. All of our programs are planned with appropriate sequencing of activities—increasing the level of “team challenge” and your ability to work together—as you move through the program. Participants will collaborate to find solutions to puzzling mental tasks and/or physical challenges. By working together, the issues and goals defined during the assessment process emerge in an experiential manner. Each activity is the catalyst for discussion of individual and team concepts. Our trained and experienced facilitators will help lead these discussions, which ultimately create the most important aspect of the program: transferable learnings.
Program Format and Facility
We take pride in providing our clients with powerful experiential learning opportunities, either in our own natural setting or at a location of their choosing. We encourage clients to schedule their program on-site at Shaver's Creek because we believe that experiencing the team challenges amid the beauty of the natural world highlights the concept of community.
Our wonderful facility provides classroom accommodations, outdoor challenges, beautiful views, hiking trails, catering service, and much more. Nestled in the woods surrounding Lake Perez in the Stone Valley Recreation Area, Shaver's Creek is located fourteen miles south of Penn State's University Park campus, halfway between State College and Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
Whether conducted at Shaver's Creek or off site, our Teambuilding programs are extremely effective because people are better able to apply new insights to their lives if they learn by doing.
Who Can Benefit from Our Teambuilding Programs?
We have designed and facilitated thousands of different programs for tens of thousands of participants, from high school and college students to community and corporate groups. Because each program is uniquely created, each program is suited to the abilities of each group; special athletic ability is not necessary! All that is needed is a willingness to participate and an openness to explore.
Positive Results!
The results of participating in a Teambuilding program range from simple group bonding and building of team spirit to more complex team issues such as improving communication, changing management, and developing action plans for effective teamwork. Participants leave our programs energized and better able to work toward implementing change and accomplishing team tasks. The Teambuilding experience not only empowers people; it is also great fun!
