Dear Campers and Parents, Summer is a great time to be at Shaver's Creek. Join us for one of our unique and exciting camp programs. Well-trained, dedicated, and friendly camp counselors are always eager to share the treasures and discoveries in Shaver's woods. Since 1985, we have been offering unique and exciting camp programs that allow children and teens the opportunity to spend time outdoors. At Shaver’s Creek, camp means adventure, fun, and learning about the other kinds of life that share our big backyard. This summer we have something for everyone. As Wee Wonderers, children aged 4 and 5 (who have completed preschool or kindergarten) will enjoy exploring various habitats. Teens and veteran campers will have a blast making new friends in Aquatic Adventures, Raptor Camp, and Rock'n River Adventures. Discovery campers (entering grades one to three) will experience the world of songbirds using their senses. Explorer campers (entering grades four to six) will search our local habitats to learn about mammals. Discovery and Explorer campers will appreciate earning their 2011 Summer Camp collectible patches featuring the new songbird and mammal designs. Discovery and Explorer camps continue the excitement on Friday night. Families can bring a picnic dinner to enjoy with their camper, followed by complimentary ice cream. The campfire presentations by staff and campers are sure to entertain you — audience participation is expected! Complete the camp experience with exploration of our trails on a night walk with your family and one of our trained camp counselors. Families are invited to camp out at the center and enjoy a pancake breakfast together on Saturday morning. Shaver's Creek Discovery and Explorer camps are curriculum based. Each year is different from the last; however, within one summer season the camp programs are similar each week. For this reason, and so that we can share these wonderful experiences with as many campers as possible, please choose only one week of Discovery or Explorer camp per child for the summer. Our summer camps have become a tradition for many families, and we hope they earn a special place in yours, too. Camps fill quickly, so be sure to reserve your spot for a great week of camp at Shaver's Creek. Sincerely, Doug Wentzel and Paul Brigman George Vahoviak
