Bookstore and Gift Shop at Shaver's Creek

As a service to its members and guests, Shaver's Creek offers a variety of guide books, children's nature books, outdoor-related clothing and gifts, and usable outdoor items for sale. Some popular items include our bird feeders, Fill-a-Pouch stone treasures bags, and our plush Audubon stuffed birds with real-life bird calls.

We also have a wide variety of reference books in the lower classroom adjacent to the bookstore for guests to use in identifying species and learning more about the natural world. Our front desk staff can answer many questions about the nature observable at Shaver's Creek and surrounding areas, or they can direct you to the right resource.

Coming soon: Two new features in the bookstore. First, look for a new Penn State Alumni and Shaver's Creek Staff section, featuring books such as My Side of the Mountain (by alumna Jean Craighead George) and Diary of a Worm (by alumna Doreen Cronin). Bird feeders, jewelry, scarves, books, and photography by Shaver's Creek staff will also be available.

Second, we plan to begin offering quality optics for birders and nature observers. Maybe you can learn to identify birds well enough to compete in our annual Birding Cup in May!
