Director Mark McLaughlin: |
We are now closed for the season. We'll open back up to the public on February 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with the first Kids Corner of the new year. We look forward to having you back in 2012 to walk our trails, visit our Raptor Center and Discovery room, and enjoy our many programs and events, including the Maple Harvest Festival on March 24 and 25!
Summer Camp registration for members is now open. Nonmember registration begins on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Visit our Summer Camp page for more information on camp dates and registration.
In the meantime, be sure to keep up-to-date with Shaver's Creek news by following us on Shaver's Creek Facebook Page, visiting our Blog, or viewing our new 2012 Photo-a-Day. Keep an eye out for our newly designed website and blog in early 2012!
As Penn State's nature center, our experienced faculty and staff teach courses for Penn State students and provide environmentally sound programming for schools, children, youth, teachers, and the community. Join us for the experience of a lifetime! We offer:
Enjoy our Raptor Center (view a Raptor Center video), with twenty birds of prey, our hiking trails, picnic areas, bookstore and gift shop, and our Discovery Room, with snakes, turtles, kid-friendly displays, and more. Hikers enjoy our many trails around Lake Perez, including the boardwalk over the wetlands at the head of the lake. The trails are also used for mountain biking and, in the winter, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing. Visit on our upcoming events page for our latest outdoor experiences.
We think you will love Shaver's Creek as much as the children, students, and families who have visited us before. We welcome you to become a member and join us for a natural experience you'll always treasure!
The Shaver's Creek staff strives to touch all populations with a message of respect for the environment through a variety of program offerings.

Vision:
Our vision is to be an exemplary environmental education and training center known for quality experiential programs that enable people to learn how to live and interact harmoniously and sustainably with each other and the natural world.
