Urban Service Experience (USE) is a 2-credit Penn State student orientation program that provides all incoming Penn State students with an opportunity to learn more about an urban community through a service project while making friendships that will ease the transition from home to college. The Urban Service Experience program, in its eighth year, is modeled after the nationally recognized, award-winning ORION program—a wilderness, orientation program for incoming students that has been running successfully for twelve years.

Students interested in USE may also be interested in the ORION Wilderness Orientation program, a nationally recognized and award-winning program that served as a model for the Urban Service Experience.
