Raptor Center Activity
Traveling Raptor Shows

The Traveling Raptor Shows are for assemblies, classrooms, or outdoor events. During all of these programs, there will be time for audience questions, and hands-on props will be available.
(view the details on regular weekend Meet the Birds of Prey shows at the center, or watch the Raptor Center video)

These raptor shows are available in full or mini versions.
A full-length show is sixty to seventy-five minutes.
A mini-length show is thirty to forty-five minutes.
The appearance of any particular bird or animal in a show depends its good health.

Four Choices of Shows:

  1. Birds of Prey (for all ages)
Your group will be introduced to four live, nonreleasable raptors during the program. The presenter will discuss the natural histories and case histories of the raptors as well as some of the challenges facing eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls.
  2. Owls Around Us (for all ages)
Your group will be introduced to four live, nonreleasable owls during this full-length show (or two owls during the mini-show). You will learn about their nocturnal habits and adaptations.
  3. Animal Adaptations (for all ages)
Animals are fascinating! Each type of animal has characteristics that help them to succeed in their individual habitats. This program uses four different types of animals to show how animals do what they do to survive. Turtle shells, snake skins, skeletons, wings, and talons may be used as additional visual aids.
  4. Biodiversity (for all ages)
Using four animals from Shaver's Creek, the presenter will discuss what biodiversity is and why it is important to all of us. Also, points will be made about threats to biodiversity and how awareness is a key factor in the protection of our environment.
