University Policies
Access — Penn State encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing special accommodations or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the Penn State Sport Camps office before your visit: phone 814-865-0561; fax 814-865-8883.Cancellation — The University may cancel or postpone any course or activity because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a program is canceled or postponed, the University will refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses, including cancellation/change charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies.
Confidentiality — For legal reasons, the University cannot release the names or phone numbers of other participants, not even to those who want to carpool.
Medical Fees and Insurance
The University provides accident and illness medical insurance designed to respond on a "primary" basis, with no deductible, as part of the program at no additional charge. This coverage provides up to $5,000 in benefits in the event a camper sustains an injury requiring treatment or hospitalization, up to $500 in dental benefits, and up to $1,000 in benefits for illness, after which the family's medical insurance must be used. The insurance provided will cover only an injury or illness resulting from activity that occurred while the camper was participating in Sport Camps activities at Penn State. Parents or guardians will be responsible for medical bills for a camper with a pre-existing medical condition or illness.Health Care
Standard health care is provided by the Penn State sports medicine faculty and staff of certified athletic trainers as well as University students enrolled in the athletic training education program. However, athletic training personnel do not dispense medications of any type. Health care is available during camp sessions and in the residence halls.
Athletic trainers refer medical emergencies and illnesses to University Health Services, Penn State Hershey–State College Orthopaedics, or the Emergency/Outpatient Department of Mount Nittany Medical Center. A parent or guardian must sign the "Emergency Health" portion of the registration form to grant permission for any medical attention needed during the camp.
H1N1 Notice — Please help lessen the spread of flu this season. Both seasonal and H1N1 influenza are expected to affect many people this year. The exclusion of ill persons from public, school, and group gatherings is key to lessening the spread of the flu. If you are ill, please remain at home during your illness and recovery. If you have a fever (100˚ F or higher), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends limiting contact with others until you have been without a fever for at least 24 hours.
NCAA Rules and Regulations
Senior Prospect Prohibition — In accordance with NCAA Rules and Regulations, "senior prospective student-athletes" shall not be permitted to be employed in an institution's summer sport camp. The definition of a "senior prospective student-athlete" is one who is eligible for admission to a member institution or who has started classes for the senior year in high school.No Free or Reduced Privileges — Institutional staff members or representatives of its athletics interests shall not employ or give free or reduced admission privileges to a high school, preparatory school, or two-year college athletics award winner.
Prohibited Compensation — A member institution may not compensate or reimburse a high school, preparatory school, or two-year college coach based on the number of campers the coach sends to the camp.
