Chaperones

Dear Chaperone,

Thank you for volunteering to be a team chaperone. We hope you find your role as a chaperone enjoyable and rewarding. Chaperones are critical to the success of this tournament. Your primary role as chaperone is to help ensure the welfare and safety of those under your charge. To assist you in making the most of your role we have created this page for you.

You will be meeting with our Happy Volley coordination personnel in 105 Forum Building (one block west of the Creamery on Curtin Road). The chaperone meeting is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.; the coaches meeting is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

The Forum classroom building is a much more professional venue to conduct these meetings.

Again, thank you for your important contribution to our tournament. We sincerely hope that your weekend is filled with outstanding competition, and that Penn State accommodates your every need. If you have any comments or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us at sportcampinfo@athletics.psu.edu.

Warm regards from your friends at Penn State.

Residence Halls:

The name of your residence hall area is East Residence Halls. The attached map pinpoints the locations of all residence halls and the two common buildings that service these residence halls. Findlay Commons is the twenty-four-hour help desk. Should you have any questions regarding housing and food, the commons desk staff will be able to assist you. They also will have important points of contact and telephone numbers of those running the tournament. You can reach the commons desk twenty-four hours a day by calling 814-865-0465.

Residence halls are not air-conditioned. A small refrigerator and microwave are available in each room, and laundry facilities are available.

Here are some general rules and regulations concerning your stay in the residence halls:

  • Curfew: Participants must be in their residence hall at 10:30 p.m. and lights out at 11:00 p.m. Players’ residence access cards will not work after 11:00 p.m.; however, your access cards work twenty-four-hours a day.
  • Quiet hours should be enforced between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Please help enforce quiet time so players can get the rest they need to perform at their highest level.
  • Caution your players about leaving valuables unsecured and in unlocked residence rooms.
  • Penn State will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles.
  • Smoking and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
  • Guests are expected to use University facilities properly. Rooms, hallways, and lobbies should be kept clean and orderly. Fire extinguishers should not be misused, and doorways and/or exits should be free of obstructions.
  • Telephones: Telephones are not provided in residence hall rooms. There is one courtesy phone available on each floor, located near the elevators, of each residence hall. To call locally, dial “8” plus the seven-digit number. To call on campus, dial the last five numbers.

Also, to enter any parking deck, your vehicle cannot be any taller than 6'8". Please respect all handicapped spaces and those spaces marked “reserved twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.”
