Russ Rose, camp director, has been head coach of the Penn State women's volleyball team for twenty-nine seasons. His accolades include AVAC national, NCAA, mideast region, and Big Ten coach-of-the-year awards. His 1993, 1997, and 1998 teams were NCAA runner-ups. His 1999 and 2007 teams won the NCAA women's volleyball national championship.
Dennis Hohenshelt, longtime assistant coach for the Penn State men's volleyball program, begins his second season as Coach Rose's assistant coach. Coach Hohenshelt is a graduate of Juniata College, where he was team captain and MVP of their 1993 national championship team.
Salima (Davidson) Rockwell begins her second season on the Penn State women's volleyball coaching staff. Rockwell was a three-time All-American setter for the Nittany Lions from 1991 to 1994 and served as a two-time team captain of the U.S. National Team during her time with the squad from 1995 to 1999. She comes back to Penn State after spending the 2005 season as an assistant coach at Oregon State.
Steve Aird joins the Penn State women's volleyball program as the director of volleyball operations after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati. While he was at Cincinnati, the Bearcats achieved their eleventh and twelfth consecutive twenty-win seasons. A former Nittany Lion men's volleyball player, Aird was a two-time captain, helping the squad to three appearances in the National Collegiate Championship semifinals.
Penn State's outstanding camp coaching staff will be augmented by selected high school and college coaches and varsity players.
