Soccer and Goalkeeping

Soccer Camp and Goalkeeping Academy • State College, Pennsylvania

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your years of loyalty to our soccer camps. As a token of appreciation for your continuing support, you'll notice that we have kept our 2008 camp fees the same as last year. We have also added medical insurance for our campers; the details are in the brochure and on this Web site. Again, thanks for choosing Penn State for your camper's soccer experience, and we look forward to seeing you this summer.

Who Should Attend
Penn State Nittany Select Soccer Camps and Goalkeeping Academies are designed for serious soccer players entering grades eight through twelve next fall. Recent high school graduates not currently enrolled in college are also eligible to attend.

Penn State Boys' Soccer Team Camp is designed for students entering grades nine through twelve next fall.

Penn State Soccer Day Camp is open to boys and girls 7 to 14 years old.

About the Camps
Penn State's resident soccer camps are structured to give serious players an opportunity to improve their technical and tactical abilities in practice and game situations. The players are grouped according to ability, experience, maturity, and competitive spirit. Participation in all camps is limited to ensure quality instruction.

Facilities—Using natural grass fields and large practice areas, playing space is plentiful and readily available. Lighted fields permit 11 vs. 11 games to be played each evening. Game fields, cafeterias, residence halls, and recreational facilities are within minutes of each other.

Equipment—The players should bring the necessary practice gear, including soccer sneakers and rain gear. Shin guards are required for all sessions. All participants at the instructional camps will receive a reversible Penn State training shirt and a Nike soccer ball.

Camp Selections
Nittany Select Session I: July 12–15
Nittany Select Session II: July 16–19

Daily specialized technical and tactical training sessions are supplemented with evening 11 vs. 11 matches in a competitive environment. The participants receive daily detailed instruction from qualified national and international coaches.

Penn State Boys' Soccer Team Camp: August 3–6
This camp offers teams an opportunity to display their athletic and soccer skills under the guidance of accomplished instructors. Competitive evening games provide the players with the opportunity to showcase their ability and potential to perform at the next level. Each team must bring a minimum of fifteen players and a maximum of twenty players.

Penn State Soccer Day Camp: August 4–8
The day camp focuses on fundamental technical instruction in a relaxed learning environment. Small-side games and an excellent coach-to-camper ratio highlight this weeklong camp. The campers will receive a Nike ball and reversible camp shirt. The day camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Goalkeeping Academy:
The Goalkeeping Academy is under the direct supervision of Penn State's goalkeeper instructor, Ryan Defibaugh. The participants receive specialized coaching and have match related practice sessions. To ensure quality playing time, the number of goalkeepers permitted to enroll in the instructional camp is limited.
