Thank you for considering our Nittany Lion Rugby Academy. To those of you who have sent a child to one of our past camps, thank you for your continued loyalty; rest assured that your child’s 2009 camp experience will be every bit as rewarding. Those considering sending a child for the first time should know that the camper’s safety and welfare are our top priority and that your child will receive professional instruction from a team of outstanding coaches. Who Should Attend

The Nittany Lion Rugby Academy is designed for students entering grades eight through twelve next fall. High school graduates are also eligible to enroll.

About the Camps

The Nittany Lion Rugby Academy accommodates various age groups and skill levels to include beginners, and is designed to help players develop fundamental skills for playing more effectively as individuals and team members. Emphasis is placed on individual and positional skills as well as team skills and concepts. The camp features a high-quality staff of instructors from top colleges and teams.

Academy Highlights

  • Interaction with a number of USA National Team players and coaches
  • Skills development: evasive running, passing, tackling, contact skills
  • Specialty clinics: kicking, lineout throws, scrum-half passing
  • Film study and individual analysis of play
  • Individual player evaluation and feedback Rugby sport camp
  • Chalk talks/videos
  • Flexibility, strength training, and conditioning programs, as well as sports psychology and motivational techniques as appropriate for ages and skill levels
  • Competitions with prizes
  • Nonrugby activities: swimming, soccer, dry-land training demonstrations, and more
  • Trainers on duty twenty-four hours

Recreation—During camp, participants may spend their free time enjoying Penn State's many recreational facilities, including the outdoor swimming pool.
