Cynthia Rossi Sovich, M.Ed., CFCS, NBCT
Since 1980, Sovich has been a part-time instructor in human development and family studies and in family and consumer sciences education at Penn State. She has taught family and consumer sciences in public schools in Pennsylvania and North Carolina and is currently teaching family and consumer sciences at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Sovich's areas of emphasis are human development, family studies, early childhood education, and teacher training. She has a bachelor's degree in individual and family studies, a teaching certificate in family and consumer sciences, and a master's degree in human development and family studies, with an emphasis in early childhood, all from Penn State. In 2002 she received National Board Certification in the area of early adolescence through young adulthood/career and technical education.

In the 1980s Sovich trained paraprofessionals in the Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program through Penn State's College of Health and Human Development. She is an educational consultant, is involved in a number of professional organizations, and has made presentations at state, regional, and national conferences.

Sovich has served the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in various ways since 1990. In 1990–91 and 1996 she revised the occupational early childhood education blueprint and the Vocational Competency Achievement Tracking System (VoCATS) test bank. In 1998 she served on the statewide articulation committee, and in 1999, 2000, and 2001 she worked with a team to write the curriculum guides for Early Childhood Education I and II. Sovich is currently serving as adviser to the current Early Childhood Education revision curriculum team. In 2001 she served on the Color Me Healthy advisory committee for North Carolina State University, which, along with a variety of related health and nutrition organizations, produced an early childhood nutrition and health curriculum. She has served on the governing boards of both Pennsylvania's and North Carolina's Association for the Education of Young Children.

Sovich was selected as the 1999 North Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
