Troubleshooting the Activated Sludge Process with a Microscope--3 hours, 0.3 CEU
Troubleshooting the Activated Sludge Process with a Microscope provides the rationale for use of the microscope for process control and troubleshooting of the activated sludge process. Schematics and work sheets are used with 35 mm slides to illustrate acceptable ("healthy") and unacceptable mixed liquor conditions. Components of a microscopic examination of mixed liquor that are illustrated include fine solids, floc particles, filamentous organisms, protozoa, metazoa, and foam. The course also reviews sampling, storage of samples, recommendations for microscopes and photomicroscopy, and laboratory exercises. Please note: Wastewater samples and the microscope itself are not used in this course.
