Protozoa and Metazoa—3 hours, 0.3 CEU
Protozoa and Metazoa reviews the single-celled microscopic protozoa and multicellular microscopic animals or metazoan, that are commonly found in the activated sludge process. Protozoa reviewed include amoebae, flagellates, free-swimming ciliates, crawling ciliates, stalked ciliates, and suctorians. Metazoa reviewed include rotifers, free-living nematodes, bristleworms, flatworms, and waterbears. The course presents the sources of these organisms’ entrance to the activated processes, the roles they perform in the treatment of wastewaters, the bio-indicator values, and their identification and enumeration.
