Playing to Win: The Business and Social Frontier of Videogames

Penn State » Outreach » Playing to Win » Home

Welcome to the virtual age where videogames are no longer mere child's play. Just as the invention of the telephone and television changed our lives, the introduction of videogame technology is reshaping the world.

Videogames and simulations are now commonplace in education, technical and professional training, business modeling, military strategy, and medical treatment. With the explosion of uses, there are business, legal, and social ramifications that no one could have imagined a decade ago. Technological advances are far outpacing public policy.

This conference will bring together professionals and scholars around a research agenda addressing the impacts of the rapidly expanding videogame industry. It is not about the technology of videogames, but rather the intertwined economic, social, and cultural aspects that are driving business and public policy debates.

Join us to shape the agenda for future research and help address national policies surrounding this rapidly developing field.
