This annual conference provides networking opportunities and instruction on innovative teaching techniques for secondary/postsecondary education of health occupations and long-term care educators. Participants can earn Act 48 hours or PSNA contact hours and Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

  • Identify how adults process and remember information, and describe ways to reinforce learning
  • Identify four ways to “resuscitate” boring content
  • Prevent technology-related problems in such areas as copyright
  • Learn about new and exciting teaching tools, such as WebQuests and social networks
  • Hear updates on continuing education requirements
  • Network with colleagues from across the state

Keynote Speaker:

Michele Deck is an internationally renowned presenter, author, and educator. She is the co-founder, president, and CEO of G.A.M.E.S., a company that specializes in adult learning and interactive teaching methods and provides seminars for any organizations. She is also CEO of Tool Thyme for Trainers, a company she founded that supplies the most innovative and creative presentation tools. Michele is known for her innovative teaching methods in the field of health care education and training and has been training educators and trainers full-time for the last eighteen years. Her keynote address, “Know White and Her Seven Learners Plus One,” will immediately follow the opening lunch.

Concurrent Sessions:

The concurrent sessions will discuss ways to “resuscitate” boring content, how adults process and remember information and how to reinforce learning, how to provide first aid ideas to rejuvenate ailing programs, and ways to prevent technology-related problems in areas such as copyright. The sessions will also cover new and exciting teaching tools such as WebQuests and social networks.

Sheri Weidman, state coordinator for the Nurse Aide Training Program, will provide a NATCEP update for nurse aide instructors. A representative from Pearson VUE will discuss changes to the state competency evaluation examination, and a representative from the American Red Cross will provide testing updates.

Pampering Session:

Thursday will conclude with a pampering session beginning at 5:00 p.m. Come enjoy good food and fellowship with your colleagues. And while you’re there, stop in for a back massage, a manicure, and/or a yoga session!
