Location and Accommodations

Penn State's University Park campus is located in the center of the state, at the intersection of state routes 26 and 322, about fifteen miles south of Interstate 80.

Typical Weather

Temperatures in early June range from mid-50 degrees (F) to mid-70 degrees (F). Spring can bring rain showers and occasional thunderstorms.

Accommodations and Shuttle 

The meeting will be held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, one of the largest university-based conference center hotels of its kind in the country. The Penn Stater, part of Penn State's Innovation Park, features newly renovated rooms, extensive meeting facilities, and excellent restaurants.

The room block for the Penn Stater has been released, and the hotel is currently full. When you contact the hotel: If you are told that the Penn Stater is full, please tell the reservation clerk that you would like to be placed on a waiting list. A limited number of rooms may be available at a later date.

Call or fax The Penn Stater to make your room reservation. Be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the American Quaternary Association conference. Please give the reservation clerk the following reservation identification number: QUA0605. The hotel staff actively work this list to contact people when vacancies occur.

The rates are $99 for single occupancy, $109 for double occupancy, $119 for triple occupancy, and $129 for quad occupancy. If guests require a cot, there is an additional charge of $15 per cot, per night. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m., and checkout time is noon.

The Penn Stater provides free shuttle service for overnight guests coming from the University Park Airport, located in State College, Pennsylvania. Please call The Penn Stater at 814-863-5000 to make a shuttle reservation, or to request guest transportation upon your arrival. Shuttle service is also available for overnight guests who wish to travel to campus or to downtown State College.

To locate alternative lodging contact the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau. On the site, select Lodging and Reservations from the pull-down menu under the Visitors tab. You may peruse the list of choices, or you may click the yellow Lodging Availability button at the top of the page and enter your criteria for dates and type of lodging. A list of choices will appear that have lodging available on the days you indicate. It also includes contact information.
