Credit Courses
Noncredit Courses
You can register for our credit courses in a variety of ways, depending on your student status. Always be sure to talk with one of our academic advisers before registering, to ensure that you are selecting the course that best meets your needs.
Nondegree Students
Nondegree students are those who are not in a Penn State degree program. This includes students working on Continuing Education credit certificate programs. Following are the procedures for registering for our courses as a nondegree student:
- Undergraduate Students: Before you can register for your first Continuing Education course as a nondegree student, you will need to complete the Undergraduate Nondegree Enrollment Form. Return your completed form to the Continuing Education office in 121 Outreach Building or to the Registrar's office in 112 Shields Building for immediate processing.
Graduate Students: Before you can register for your first course as a nondegree student, you will need to complete the online Graduate Nondegree Application Form. The Graduate School will process your application in two to four business days.
- Once your application has been processed, you have approval to register. After you have selected a course with help from one of our academic advisers, you can complete your registration by any of the following methods:
a. Download and complete our Credit Registration Form; then mail or fax the form to Continuing Education via the address or fax number on the form.
b. Call Continuing Education Student Services at 814-865-3443 or 800-228-1627 to register by phone with a credit card.
c. Stop by Continuing Education in 121 Outreach Building to register in person.
d. If you are currently taking a Penn State course and want to register for your next course, you can use eLion when the registration window opens for the next semester. Registration window dates are available on eLion.
Degree Students
Degree students are those who have been admitted to a Penn State degree program. Following are the procedures for registering for our courses as a degree student:
- Talk with one of our academic advisers to ensure that you are registering for a course that meets the requirements of your degree program.
- Complete your registration by any of the following methods:
a. Download and complete our Credit Registration Form; then mail or fax the form to Outreach Student Services via the address or fax number on the form.
b. Call Continuing Education Student Services at 814-865-3443 or 800-228-1627 to register by phone with a credit card.
c. Stop by Continuing Education in 121 Outreach Building to register in person.
d. If you are currently taking a Penn State course and want to register for your next course, you can use eLion when the registration window opens for the next semester. Registration window dates are available on eLion.
Following are the procedures for registering for our noncredit courses:
- Visit our course catalog for course availability or contact us for assistance.
- Complete your registration by any of the following methods:
a. Download and complete our Noncredit Registration Form; then mail or fax the form to Outreach Student Services via the address or fax number on the form.
b. Call Continuing Education Student Services at 814-865-3443 or 800-228-1627 to register by phone with a credit card.
c. Stop by Continuing Education in 121 Outreach Building to register in person
