Penn State Continuing Education degree students who are taking at least 6 credits per semester and meet all other federal eligibility requirements may be eligible for federal student aid (FAFSA).
There are also opportunities for grants and funds especially for adult learners that you are encouraged to apply for. These are usually awarded each semester and are applied directly to reduce your tuition bill.

What is FAFSA?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your starting point to open the door to financial awards and low-cost loans for college. Penn State uses the FAFSA as part of their application process for non-federal aid and scholarships.
When can I submit the FAFSA?
To maximize your chances of getting student financial aid, submit the FAFSA as soon as possible. Visit the FAFSA web site for the most up to date application deadlines.
How can I make this process easier?
Filling out the FAFSA form with official financial information from already completed tax documents will save you time. Completing the FAFSA form is not as difficult as many think. To get started, follow the next two steps:
- Request a PIN
With a PIN you can apply for and "sign" the FAFSA online, check the status of your submitted FAFSA, and make corrections. If you plan to submit your FAFSA online, you (and one of your parents) must request a PIN from the U.S. Department of Education.
