In 2002 the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed legislation to provide professional development assistance to persons who have faced career interruptions due to corporate job relocation (also known as “outsourcing”). Penn State Continuing Education, in cooperation with Pennsylvania CareerLink, is pleased to offer professional education to persons whose jobs have been outsourced.
A list of Penn State programs eligible for Trade Act funds is available on the Pennsylvania CareerLink Web site. Click on “Job Seeker Services”; then scroll down and click on “View Statewide Training Programs/Providers List.”
If you qualify for Trade Act funding, you will be limited to no more than $16,000 in state funds, and you will be required to complete your program of study within two calendar years. Due to the tuition rates at Penn State, most Trade Act students will be able to use their funds only if they are dependents of Penn State employees entitled to tuition discounts.
To determine whether you are eligible for professional development under the Trade Act, please contact your local CareerLink office.
