We know that it can sometimes be intimidating to park at Penn State, where there are thousands of cars and a limited number of parking spaces. The information below explains how to make sure you are parked legally and avoid getting a ticket. All students are required to purchase and display a valid parking permit if parking on campus at any time, for any reason.
Parking for Classes or Appointments at the Outreach Building
Student (or faculty/staff) parking permits are required when parking at the Outreach Building between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All Penn State permits are valid except for red commuter permits. Permits are not required after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends. Metered parking spaces also are available in the Outreach Building parking lot.
Parking for Classes at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel
Parking for students taking courses at The Penn Stater is free and available in any lot beside the building except for the F/S Orange lot.
Parking for Classes on Campus
All parking lots on campus are reserved. To park on campus, you must register your vehicle and display a valid student parking permit on your vehicle's rearview mirror. Security Escort Service
The campus Security Escort Service (865-WALK) provides walking accompaniment for Penn State students who may feel unsafe walking alone on campus at night. Uniformed student employees who carry police radios will walk you from one campus location to another, and to locations off campus within reasonable walking distance. Escorts are available from dusk to dawn 365 days a year. Mobile escorts may also be provided, when appropriate.
