Math Improvement Workshops
No Fail Algebra Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings, April 21–June 25 Monday and Wednesday, 6:00–9:30 p.m., and Tuesday, 6:00–9:00 p.m. 121 Outreach Building, Innovation Park Succeed in algebra! Start with pre-algebra as we address basic math concepts, including fractions, decimals, ratios and proportions, as needed, then study basic algebra and geometry concepts. If time permits, intermediate algebra will also be explored. If you are looking for help with entrance into post-secondary education, this is the class for you. Course includes books and materials, refreshments, individual, and group instruction. Learn math at your own pace to increase your confidence and success in future studies. The last part of each class, optional time will be available for one-on-one help, as needed. This course is a collaborative project between State College Area School District Adult Education and Continuing Education at University Park. Mathematics Improvement: Part II Tuesdays, 6:00–8:30 p.m. 215 Hammond Building, University Park Campus Mathematics Improvement is offered conjointly through Continuing Education and the CIU #10 Development Center for Adults. It is offered FREE of charge except for a refundable deposit required for use of the selected textbook. The course curriculum is designed to strengthen one’s basic math and introductory algebra skills, specifically in preparation for the Math Placement Exam and MATH 21, Part I is offered during the fall semester. Part II of the course, offered in the spring semester, revolves around a review of signed numbers, the evaluation of algebraic expressions, polynomials, equations and inequalities, factoring, graphing, and word problems. Scholarship OpportunityPenn State Continuing Education students are encouraged to apply to the Fischer Scholarship designated for associate and baccalaureate degree-seeking students who have taken at least nine credits with Continuing Education and/or World Campus. This scholarship is funded annually, and all scholarship monies awarded will be deposited directly into the recipients' student accounts at Penn State.
Reminder of Intent to Graduate NotificationContinuing Education Students who plan on graduating at the conclusion of the summer 2008 semester (August 2008) are reminded to contact their adviser for a transcript audit and notify their academic college of their intent to graduate.
The intent to graduate activation period is May 19 trough June 20, 2008.
