Overview
Penn State's advanced business certificate builds upon the basic business certificate, with a focus on developing the students' communication and math proficiencies, and also provides a flexible way for students to explore more of the functional fields of business.
Career Opportunities
Penn State's advanced business certificate program can give you the advanced business skills you need to get ahead in your current job or prepare for a position that requires business knowledge. Because this certificate program is flexible, you can tailor your learning for your own career path.
Educational Milestones
Once you've completed both the basic business certificate and the advanced business certificate, you'll have nearly half the credits required for our associate degree in business! Talk with an adviser to learn how you can apply your credits toward an associate or bachelor's degree from Penn State.
Locations and Flexible Access
Adult students require maximum flexibility of course delivery. That is why we've designed the advanced business certificate program to be completed in the way most convenient for you--through campus courses, distance education courses, or a combination of the two. Talk with an adviser to determine the best mix of courses for your particular needs.
Admission Requirements
- You must be a high school graduate.
- Or you must have completed your GED.
- An entrance exam is not required.
Value of a Penn State Education
A certificate not only increases your skills and knowledge; it also increases your earning power and opens new career opportunities. According to the 2004 U.S. Census Population Survey report, workers with even some college were earning $5,000 more than workers with just a high school diploma. Employers place more value on job candidates who have shown a commitment to educational attainment, and they are more likely to hire or promote such persons over high school graduates.
