About Penn State Continuing Education



The mission of Penn State Continuing Education is to provide doorways of opportunity for lifetime learning that focuses on the student's success. We offer credit courses and professional development to adults in State College, Bellefonte, Lock Haven, Williamsport, Lewistown, and surrounding communities.

Meeting the Needs of All Learners

Adults enter college at all different levels and with different backgrounds; some are seeking a first degree or come back to college to complete a degree they started many years ago. Others rely on Penn State to help update their training and skills which can provide new opportunities for advancement. Continuing Education helps adults manage work, college, and family by continually finding ways to make course times more convenient, tailor instruction to adult learning styles, and offer courses and programs relevant to the issues and challenges faced by organizations.

Convenient Course Days and Times

Continuing Education offers programs at times that are convenient for busy adults and locations close to where the students live and work. The newly expanded Continuing Education course schedule includes early morning, lunchtime, and compressed weekend courses.

Penn State is recognized by employers as a reliable institution that enables alumni to succeed in life and in their careers—and we have the rankings to back it up. Accreditation is a national system of monitoring the quality of the credits you receive from an institution of higher education. Penn State is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. You should choose a program offered by an accredited institution, like Penn State, to be assured with confidence that courses meet the rigorous quality standards of accreditation. Credits earned from a nonaccredited university typically do not transfer to an accredited institution.
