The 2010 Pennsylvania Broadband Summit features some of the most influential and respected experts in the broadband field, including Blair Levin, the former executive
director of the Omnibus Broadband Initiative who oversaw development of the National Broadband Plan, and former mayor Graham Richard, who used broadband initiatives to
help turn around the once-struggling city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Check out the agenda for more information on sessions and

In the past year, we witnessed the convergence of many events and developments — including the Pennsylvania Statewide Broadband Plan — that will impact every facet of the broadband
landscape in Pennsylvania. The free, two-day 2010 Pennsylvania Broadband Summit will address issues required to advance the broadband agenda in Pennsylvania.

Background
In January 2010, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was awarded a grant to collect broadband mapping data, implement strategies to address gaps, and identify barriers to broadband adoption. Consequently, the Commonwealth is organizing the 2010 Pennsylvania Broadband Summit this fall as a forum for education, discussion, planning, and sharing of information among broadband providers, anchor institutions, consumers and citizens, and officials at all levels of government, as well as key technology providers and other stakeholders.
The 2010 Pennsylvania Broadband Summit augments other broadband efforts undertaken by the Commonwealth, such as the ARRA-funded Middle Mile Infrastructure project in northern Pennsylvania, the broadband mapping project, and the state’s plan to open up the state’s tower assets to private providers.
