2009 Speakers

The following keynote speakers shared their expertise at the 2009 conference:

Chris Lehmann is the founding principal of the Science Leadership Academy, a progressive science and technology high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He returned to his native Philadelphia after nine years as an English teacher, technology coordinator, girls' basketball coach, and ultimate Frisbee coach at the Beacon School in New York City, one of the leading urban public schools for technology integration. In 2006, the National School Board Association named Chris one of "20 to Watch" among American administrators.

David Warlick is a 30-year educator and has been a classroom teacher, district administrator, and staff consultant with the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction. For the past ten years, he has operated The Landmark Project, a consulting and innovations firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. His Web site, Landmarks for Schools, gets more than a half-million visits per day and offers some of the most popular teacher tools available on the Internet. David is also the author of three books on instructional technology and twenty-first century literacy and has spoken to audiences throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Cole Camplese is the director of education technology services (ETS) for Penn State. He has had the opportunity to help direct and drive the direction of the University's commitment to teaching and learning with technology. He and his amazing staff focus their energy on instructional design, educational technology, digital media, and faculty development. Currently at ETS, Cole is leading efforts to bring University-wide podcasting and blogging services to faculty, staff, and students. He is also responsible for the Digital Commons initiative, the TLT Symposium, components of the Blended Learning Initiative, Adobe Connect Pro, iTunes U, the TLT Communities, the PSU Serious Gaming Initiative, and supporting the use of ANGEL for teaching and learning.

Kyle Peck is associate dean for outreach, technology, and international programs and professor of education at Penn State. He is also director of the Regional Educational Lab for the mid-Atlantic region. He is the former head of the learning and performance systems department and was co-founder of the innovative Centre Learning Community Charter School. Before coming to Penn State, Dr. Peck taught middle school for seven years and was involved in corporate training for five years. He has been on the Penn State faculty since 1987 and is co-author of two books, more than forty book chapters and journal articles, and four education-related software programs. He is a popular speaker and has made more than 250 presentations at professional conferences.
