Technology, in the right hands and in sufficient quantity, will transform education. However, realizing this dream will take effective leadership and lots of communication among the pioneers. The pioneers involved in developing effective one-to-one learning environments face many important questions, which will serve as the focal points of this conference.
Our keynote sessions, concurrent sessions, and informal roundtable conversations will focus on understanding, implementing, and enhancing the educational value of one-to-one computing:
-
What are teachers in one-to-one classrooms doing to take advantage of the new technologies, and what are they planning to do next?
-
What strategies have been most effective in helping teachers adopt and invent new teaching practices that take advantage of the technology?
-
What obstacles are one-to-one pioneers facing, and how have they been able to overcome them?
-
What other evidence should we be gathering to demonstrate the impact of technology-rich educational programs, and how can schools, universities, professional associations, vendors, and other partners work together to fill this void?
-
What data are available to demonstrate that technology-rich educational environments can increase student achievement and add value to education? What are the biggest obstacles faced during the implementation of effective one-to-one initiatives, and how have others overcome them?
-
What are the most effective strategies one might employ to help a community understand the power of one-to-one computing?
The purpose of this conference is to connect current and future leaders of one-to-one educational computing environments, to improve both the quality of education they offer and the quality of data they produce.
