Call for Posters
Penn State will host an applied research poster session at the Marcellus Summit on October 11, 2012. The poster session will run from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel on the University Park Campus.
We believe the Marcellus Summit is a great place to showcase your research. A broad representation of stakeholders from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region are expected to participate. This includes legislators, attorneys, industry representatives, elected officials, state and federal agency staff, and members of county or community task forces and environmental and community groups.
Poster abstracts (up to 250 words) must be submitted by September 11. The Abstracts will be reviewed for relevance to the audience and against the criteria below before they are accepted. Posters should be broadly related to shale impacts as detailed below:
- Community and Social Implications: Research focused on the range of community and social implications associated with shale gas development, including research on human health impacts
- Business, Workforce, and Economic Impacts: Research on understanding and quantifying economic impacts and impacts on businesses and workforce
- Environmental Impacts: Understanding, measurement, minimization, and abatement of environmental impacts associated with shale gas development
- Natural Gas Utilization: Research and innovative ideas on utilizing natural gas in manufacturing, transportation, power generation, and other uses
- Public Education: Research on either the effective public and extension education or examples of successful educational efforts; focus should be on education related to shale gas or energy
Poster Guidelines
Poster session participants are responsible for the printing of their posters. Posters should be no larger than 46" x 46" to ensure that all posters fit within space constraints of the
room. The conference center is supplying only the easels for the presenters. You must provide your own board or poster backing to support your poster on the easel. Posters must be set up
by 5:00 p.m. and will need to be removed by 8:00 p.m. Presenters will be admitted to the conference for the poster session and the Natural Gas Task Force roundtable discussion the evening
of October 11. If you are interested in attending the rest of the Marcellus Summit, please view our agenda and registration pages.
