Orchestra

You will have full orchestra and sectional rehearsals scheduled throughout the day, along with theory, improvisation, and conducting classes. You'll also have the opportunity to play in chamber ensembles. Orchestra 

Gerardo Edelstein, director of orchestral studies

Gerardo Edelstein, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is the director of orchestral studies at Penn State. He has conducted orchestras and choirs in South America, Asia, Europe, and the United States. Prior to coming to Penn State, Mr. Edelstein served as the associate conductor of the Richmond Symphony. He was also the director of orchestral activities at the Virginia Commonwealth University and music director and conductor of the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio. Mr. Edelstein holds degrees from the National Conservatory in Buenos Aires, the Jerusalem Rubin Academy in Israel, and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. He also participated in workshops and master classes in Germany, Israel, and the United States. He is frequently invited to conduct county and regional high school orchestra festivals around the country. A recipient of several awards, Mr. Edelstein has been praised for his commitment and dedication to the music education of young musicians.Orchestra

Mr. Edelstein is the founding conductor of the Orchestra option in Penn State's High School Summer Music Camp program.
