Camp Activities
In the morning and afternoon, you'll take part in full-ensemble rehearsals, sectional rehearsals, and master classes. Pianists will receive multiple individual lessons during the week
and are assigned individual practice times, with practice assistance available throughout the day.
During each day, you'll receive instruction in ear training, music theory, and music appreciation. In the evening, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy solo and ensemble performances
by other campers and concerts by camp staff and guest artists. All of these activities will be supervised by our camp staff.
You'll complete your week at camp on Saturday, July 19, when you and the other campers will present public performances. In the morning, pianists will perform in the School of Music's
400-seat Esber Recital Hall; at noon, the concert choir concert will take place in Esber. As a member of the concert band, jazz band, or orchestra, you will perform in the
Playhouse Theatre.
Honors Recital
The Honors Recital is a showcase and competition for outstanding performers of all camp areas. Students are selected by audition on the first day of camp (see FAQ for audition
requirements). Winners receive a performance opportunity during Thursday evening's recital with the potential for a scholarship to the next year's Penn
State Summer Music Camp.
