Fee and Registration
The class fee of $175 covers the cost of operations and personal equipment—trowels, tape measures, and the like—which you may keep at the close of the field school. All other field equipment, as well as transportation to and from the site each day, will be provided.
Expenses not covered are meals and lodging in State College.
For full-time Penn State students (with 12 or more credits)
Upon your acceptance, this course will be added to your Summer 2008 semester schedule. No additional payment is required.
For non-full-time students (part-time students or non Penn State students)
You will receive a bill for the total payment, which includes tuition—based on your residence and semester status—and the information technology, activity, and class fees.
How to register: You can apply by mailing or faxing the printable application form. A short interview (in person or by phone) may also be requested. Final decisions about enrollment will be made by the instructors. In general, preference will be given to higher-level anthropology majors, but the field school is not restricted to advanced undergraduates; freshmen have participated in previous field schools. Grades and career goals will also be considered. Registration is not limited to Penn State students; interested students from other institutions are encouraged to apply. If you are accepted into the field school, registration instructions will be sent to you.
Deadline: Because of the nature of this program and the commitment we make to it, the application deadline is March 21, 2008, although we will begin reviewing and accepting applicants immediately. (If you are accepted into the field school, registration instructions will be sent to you.) After this date, please call the conference planner at 814-863-5100 for information about possible late-registration opportunities.
Confirmation: Penn State Conferences will confirm your enrollment and provide additional information. You will be notified of any cancellations or changes. If some unforeseen event forces Penn State to cancel or postpone the program, you will get a full refund of your registration fee; however, the University cannot be held responsible for any other related costs, including cancellation fees assessed by airlines or travel agencies.
Refunds/Cancellation: To cancel your enrollment, send a written notice to the conference planner by fax (814-863-5190) or e-mail (ConferenceInfo1@outreach.psu.edu) by May 1, 2008. (Note: Do not use eLion; it will not remove you from the course, and you will be held responsible for all the fees.) After this deadline, $50 for administrative expenses will be deducted from your refund. For refund eligibility, the date of your cancellation e-mail or the date stamp from the fax machine will be used as the date received by the registration office.
Tuition: The University reserves the right to revise the schedule of tuition and charges without further notice. For more information on tuition, visit http://tuition.psu.edu/.
Access: Penn State encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs. If you anticipate needing special accommodations or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the conference planner at 814-863-5100 prior to your participation.
