ERAPPA 2010 Forging Our Future
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Region and the Pittsburgh Host
Committee, I welcome you to the ERAPPA Annual Meeting Web site. The 60th Anniversary Annual Meeting, under the leadership of Greg Scott from Penn State and Doug Miller from Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, promises to be one of the premier educational events of 2010. The Keystone Chapter of APPA has thoughtfully selected a theme, "Forging Our Future."
The theme celebrates ERAPPA's past and anticipates our continued success. It remembers "Steel City" and the glory days of our nation's steel industry, and looks at "The City of Bridges," which serves as a metaphor for our mission of building lasting bridges to the future. The theme encourages us to take a look at our identity, our purpose, and our vision. It encourages us to look at our past, present, and future so that we can see where we have come from, where we are, and where we are going, to determine how we will meet the great challenges currently before us and those that will become evident to us in the future.
For 60 years, our Educational Facilities Professionals (EFPs) have forged relationships that have maintained and expanded our amazing campuses and institutions. For six decades, our EFPs have grown in their knowledge and expertise to provide unique places of education, research, and living for our students, making it possible for those students to forge a future that will push the limits of our current visions to what they should be to meet the future needs of our world.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has a rich and storied history; it was integral to the growth of the United States during the Industrial Revolution. The city has evolved from its industrial past and now embraces its future as a technological and corporate hub. I hope you will take the time to visit the many sights in and near Pittsburgh.
Once you have explored this site, I would encourage you to visit the ERAPPA Web site to see the numerous opportunities to get involved at the chapter and regional level, as well as visit the education database and see the opportunities for scholarships.
Details will follow, but please reserve October 3 to 6, 2010, for this anniversary event in Steel City, USA.
