A Learning Experience Customized for Credit Union Leaders

The Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School offers an excellent opportunity to develop the important management skills so critical to success.

Students may choose from either Basic Management or Advanced Management tracks based on prior experience. Judge/Bradley does not require any academic prerequisite.

The Basic Management track is recommended for those staff interested in developing a core competency in supervision. Basic Management is recommended for students without any formal education in organizational behavior, or those who have limited supervisory responsibility. The Advanced Management track is recommended for staff with senior management or other supervisory experience, previous formal education in management techniques, or those individuals who have previously completed the Basic Management track.

The two-year rolling format of Judge/Bradley allows students to focus on developing core leadership skills without having to take significant time away from work. After completing their first year, students in both tracks are required to complete a project utilizing their skills and knowledge that will benefit their credit union. Projects are evaluated by the Judge/Bradley Advisory Committee, and outstanding projects are selected for presentation to the class as part of the school’s general session.

In addition to the core curriculum, a full day is dedicated to current credit union topics for “real world” insight. Credit union leaders from around the state are invited to share their personal insight into current credit union issues. In addition, experienced credit union professionals will lead breakout sessions on a variety of selected topics

Who Are Judge and Bradley?

The Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School is a collaboration between Penn State and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. Founded as the Credit Union Institute in 1955, the school was renamed the Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School in memory of Dr. Joseph Bradley and Michael J. Judge. Dr. Bradley served as an instructor and adviser to the school for many years. Judge was a member of the school’s first graduating class and served as the association’s CEO from 1966 to 1991.

The Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School is a leadership development program designed to meet the educational needs of credit union CEOs, managers, and staff. The school is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, in cooperation with Penn State Management Development Programs and Services. The faculty members work exclusively with adults with organizational responsibilities; they have advanced academic degrees and years of organizational experience.
