This session will introduce session attendees to and provide training on the use of the V-TECS Connect software. This software, which was developed by the Vocational Technical Education Consortium of States in conjunction with Pennsylvania coordinators, supports training plans and training agreement record keeping for the cooperative education teacher.

Weaving Technology Into a Classroom That Promotes Thought and Fosters Creativity

Presenters will share with you how teachers in State College are using technology as a tool to foster twenty-first-century skills. They will share examples of how teachers are using Google Docs, Moodle, podcasts, and other tools to promote collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. In addition, they will talk about technology ethics and the impact on workforce education.

Toolkit for Building Business/Education Partnerships

If you attended this presentation last year, then you will want to attend this follow-up session. Team representatives from Franklin County Cooperative Education Consortium will share their successful model, Toolkit for Employers. The team will discuss the business/partner initiatives in Franklin County that have resulted from the countywide partnership among co-op coordinators that include Countywide Resource Guide development and Educator in the Workplace opportunities, to name a few. This session will also feature a panel discussion to address questions and concerns on how to get initiatives like this started in your own communities.

Career Education and Work Standards

Thirteen effective practices of implementing Career Education and Work Standards will be discussed. A tour of the Career Education and Work Online Toolkit will provide a snapshot of resources and materials available to assist teachers in planning and with the implementation of the Career Education and Work Academic Standards in the classroom. Crosswalks and materials to support integration of the standards into the classroom will be addressed. Participants will be asked to share and discuss promising practices.

This session will provide information about SkillsUSA competitions.  Review guidelines for the Co-op log-book, help gain a greater understanding of the competitions' scoring process, and be part of skills demonstrations.  Prepare your students to become winners!

Want to Become a CTE-Approved Program Evaluation (APE) Reviewer?
Michael Stanger
Pennsylvania Department of Education — BCTE This session will inform attendees about the process involved in becoming an APE reviewer for the Bureau of Career and Technical Education (BCTE). The state-mandated APE process involves the complete evaluation of a secondary institution's technical programs which could include Co-op Capstone and D.O. programs. The duration of an APE review is normally two to three days, and Act 48 hours are earned.
