Call for Speakers and Posters

Proposals are now being accepted for presentations and posters for the 2012 Keystone Coldwater Conference, Responsible Land Use: Protecting Habitat and Native Species. This conference, hosted by the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited, will be held on February 24 and 25 at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, Pennsylvania.

Target Audience

Our target audience is generally grassroots members from nonprofit organizations such as Trout Unlimited, sportsmen’s groups, and watershed associations, along with environmental professionals from conservation districts, agencies, and consulting firms. College and university students and faculty are most welcome. A primary goal of the conference is to promote the sharing of ideas between these diverse groups that have common interests. Based on past attendance, we expect a turnout of more than 250 people.

Conference Topics

Proposals are welcome on topics related to the protection of our coldwater resources, as Pennsylvania continues to develop. Priority will be give to the following topics:

  • landscape fragmentation
  • development (pervious/impervious)
  • stormwater management
  • access to waterways
  • buffer maintenance
  • invasive species
  • agriculture

We want to hear about your ideas, projects, and success stories. The presentations should highlight research, case studies, proactive community action, policy and regulations, or targeted outreach and advocacy that have played a part in ensuring environmental protection.

Sessions and Speaker Information

Each speaker will be given 35 minutes to complete their presentation, plus 10 minutes for a question-and-answer session. Some speakers may be asked to give their presentation twice. All speakers will receive free conference registration. Presenters will be notified of their acceptance by October 10, 2011.

Posters are invited from watershed organizations, Trout Unlimited chapters, students, and any other groups that have projects to share with the conference participants.
