Welcome! Penn State is excited to host the 20th Annual Big 10 and Friends Utility Conference on its University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania.
Penn State, founded in 1855 as an agricultural college, admitted its first class in 1859 and was designated in 1863 as the Commonwealth’s sole land-grant institution. With a student population of over 40,000, Penn State is the largest employer in Centre County. It is a public research university with twenty-three campuses across Pennsylvania.
On the University Park campus, Penn State owns and operates two power plants, including distribution, a wastewater treatment plant, a centralized chilled-water system, and a high-voltage distribution system. We look forward to showing you these facilities. In addition to technical presentations, networking, and vendor interactions, this conference will include overviews of Penn State’s plans for sustainability and tours of its systems. You will see, as part of the steam system tour, an expansion project that adds new steam and electrical generation to Penn State’s infrastructure.
We look forward to seeing you at the conference, from May 2 to 5, 2010, and we hope you will enjoy your visit to Penn State and State College, Pennsylvania.
Sincerely,
Dave Burns
