Parent Scholarship Information
Reimbursement for travel expenses, lodging, and conference registration fees will be available to a limited number of Pennsylvania parents or legal guardians attending the National Autism Conference. These funds will be provided through the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN), the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Special Education. Please note, however, that parents employed in a professional capacity by a school entity should follow the attendance and reimbursement policy of the school entity.
Pennsylvania parents interested in attending any portion of the National Autism Conference have until May 15 to apply by filling out the application (above). Scholarships will be awarded by May 31. Notification will also be sent to those applicants who are not awarded scholarships. Scholarship funds are available for the child with a disability and his/her parents or legal guardians (Pennsylvania residents) only.
Parent scholarships will cover the following:
- complimentary conference registration for up to 2 parent(s)/guardian(s)
- lodging reimbursement during the conference (receipts required) if live at least 30 miles from the conference location
- mileage to be reimbursed at $.565/mile and tolls (receipts required)
- meals (itemized meal receipts and names of individuals at meals required) up to per diem expense during reasonable travel periods that are NOT provided as part of the National Autism Conference
- automatic complimentary enrollment in the Children's Institute to parent scholarship recipients with children ages birth–21 of all ability levels (You do not need to complete a separate enrollment for the Children's Institute at this time to be eligible.)
Student Scholarship Information
The Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Special Education announces the availability of student scholarships for the National Autism Conference to encourage Pennsylvania university and college students and recent graduates to pursue a career working with students with autism spectrum disorders and to become informed on evidence-based practices.
Eligibility includes Pennsylvania college and university 2013 graduates or those in special education or related professions. To qualify, you must show evidence that you are a recent (2013) graduate of a Pennsylvania college or university (with a 2013 graduate date), with a major in special education or a related field. A letter of recommendation (or printed email) from a university professor and the professor's signature on the form are also required.
Student Scholarships will cover the following:
- complimentary conference registration
- lodging reimbursement during the conference (receipts required) if live at least 30 miles from the conference location
