| National Autism Conference speaker receives Pennsylvania award | ||||||

Dr. Duane F. Alexander (second from left), director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute of Health, was honored for his dedication and leadership in promoting research related to autism spectrum disorders by the Pennsylvania Department of Educations Bureau of Special Education. A Penn State alumnus, Alexander received the award during the 2002 National Autism Conference and Pennsylvania Autism Institute. He has presented the opening keynote address at the conference for the last several years. This year, he talked about new initiatives and discoveries in autism research and how these discoveries are expanding understanding about this disorder.
