Penn State DuBois has the TICKET for educators desiring computer training
Teachers in the DuBois, Pa., area that need to update their technology skills can access training as close as St. Marys and the World Wide Web through a special program offered by Penn State DuBois and the Penn State World Campus.

The Technology Integration Certificate for K–12 Educators for Tomorrow (TICKET) provides educators with the curriculum and training they need to use technology effectively in their classrooms.

“Today’s teachers are responsible for preparing their students to live and work in a highly technological society, yet many have limited basic computer skills,” explained Diana Ricotta, Penn State DuBois Continuing Education representative. “The TICKET program offers teachers the skills and training they need to incorporate technology into the teaching and learning process.”

The 15-credit certificate program is comprised of three required core courses and two electives chosen by the educator to meet his or her particular needs. The first course in the certificate, Introduction to Instructional Technology for Educators, was offered in St. Marys. Other courses in the certificate program are offered using a Web-based instructional environment supported by Penn State’s World Campus.   Taking courses over the Web permits students to complete their work at a time and location convenient for them, Ricotta noted. Students must have access to a computer and the Internet, but can work from home, their place of employment or a Penn State DuBois computer lab.
