Penn State Altoona kicked off its partnership with the China University of Mining and Technology during spring semester.
The college offered a six-week series of courses for 12 students enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at the China University of Mining and Technology. Penn State Altoona faculty taught courses focused on marketing principles, business seminars and practices and e-business. Additionally, the MBA students visited local businesses to gain hands-on experience in how businesses operate in the United States.
Penn State Altoona and the China University of Mining and Technology announced the formation of a partnership two years ago. One goal of the partnership is to broaden the students perspectives on business by enabling them to study business practices in another country.
Penn State Altoonas Continuing Education and Training Department and the Center for Asia/Pacific Management Research developed the courses. The Center for Asia/Pacific Management Research was established to be an interuniversity organization involving universities and other research institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. It serves as a catalyst for linking institutions within Asia, bringing together faculty and students from all Penn State campuses, schools and Asia-related programs. The center reaches out to scholars and students from around the world who study about Asia, enabling them to work cooperatively and gain new perspectives in the study of the region.
