Penn State Altoona offers workforce training in Johnstown area

Penn State Altoona
Penn State Altoona and the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center have formed a partnership to offer workforce development and training to the Greater Johnstown region.

Residents will have access to both credit and noncredit adult education and workforce training programs, including a Webmaster Certificate program and management development programs.

According to Jack Sinclair, director of Continuing Education and Training at Penn State Altoona, “We are providing a vital source of training to the residents of Greater Johnstown and the Cambria County region.” The Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center’s computer labs and classrooms are making it possible for us to deliver quality educational offerings to the region, he added.

The center’s mission is to provide vocational, technical and academic education to secondary and postsecondary students who demonstrate the interest and aptitude to benefit from specialized education.

As part of the partnership, Penn State Altoona is working with several staff members of the Career and Technology Center to certify them to teach Penn State courses.

Prior to establishing the partnership, Penn State Altoona offered a number of programs in the region for companies and adult learners, including certificate programs in business management, criminal justice, nursing management and the Technology Integration Certificate for K–12 Educators.
